Staff will make clear the expectation of good behaviour.
Promotion of mutual respect will discourage unsocial behaviour.
Children will be encouraged to take responsibility for their own actions and behaviour.
Staff will give praise and attention to good behaviour thus raising self esteem and social awareness.
Staff will at all times be aware of their obligation to set example by good behaviour.
Staff will treat all children fairly and with respect.
Staff will not humiliate children.
Where misbehaviour is seen children will be asked to stop.
Staff will discuss incidents of misbehaviour with the children involved, encouraging them to resolve any disagreements. Children will be encouraged to discuss how they feel ie victim or perpetrator.
Where a child consistently fails to meet the standard of behaviour expected by the club the parent will be informed. The club will work with the parent and the child to develop a strategy to improve the child’s behaviour. This strategy will include an agreed target date for significant behaviour improvement.
Parents and staff will monitor improvement in behaviour.
Where a child’s behaviour continues to fail to meet the minimum standard for a period of one whole term (or twelve weeks) the child may be excluded from the club until a significant improvement in behaviour has been achieved. Re-admittance will be at the discretion of the owner of the club.
The club accepts that there are many reasons why a child may misbehave, and staff will work with parents to determine reasons for persistent misbehaviour by any child. If necessary this may include supporting parents in seeking the help of other professionals eg medical or social services.
Any child who is deemed by the play leader to be putting the safety of other children or staff at risk may be excluded from the club immediately. The decision to exclude will be taken by the club owner.
